Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is recognized as one of the most effective and robust methods for removing total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), fats, oils, and grease (FOG), phosphorus (P), and other nutrients from industrial wastewater. Dissolved Air Flotation is based on a physical/chemical process where air is injected into the water stream. With chemical assistance, particles and flocks float to the surface. This floating sludge layer is then automatically and continuously removed by a scraper mechanism, producing treated effluent virtually free of TSS and FOG.
